Check Your Pockets

It is amazing what we find and how much damage it can cause.

Do's

  • Blot liquid stains with clean cloth, napkin etc.
  • Clean article asap – the longer you wait the more difficult to remove a stain
  • Show and tell your cleaners where and what the stain is – have check in person make a note of it
  • Remove animal fur – heavy animal fur gets on other people articles and clogs up the dry clean machine filters – remove with lint roller as much as possible (especially on bedding) or you may be charged extra for removal
  • Remove hardware from draperies – these cannot be cleaned with the hardware in them
  • Remove collar stays in men’s dress shirts – they warp with the heat, also remove cuff links.
  • Apply Make up , hairspray, lotion, aftershave, etc. before dressing – many of these contain alcohol or alkalines that can fade, stain, or deteriorate fabric, much of this damage does not show until after the dry clean process !
  • Empty pockets – it is amazing what we find and how much damage it can cause
  • Remove poly bags when storing your clothing. Store clothing in a low humidity environment.

Dont's

  • Rub – it will set the stain and cause damage to your fabric
  • Pre-treat Dry cleanables with stain remover or treatment
  • Store soiled items – it will set stains and attract insects, hot cars and damp storage are not good for soiled items.
  • Expect odorous clothing to be completely odor free – pet odors , smoke, and body odors are more difficult to remove by dry cleaning , if possible the garments should be laundered to remove these odors
  • Do not ask to have items with : feces, cat urine or vomit dry cleaned. We reserve the right to refuse any of these items. Not only is this unsanitary but it contaminates the dry clean fluid. Laundering may be an option with your approval.
  • Latex backed, sun damaged , dry rotting, insect damaged articles will most likely not survive dry cleaning or laundry – again we reserve the right to refuse these items
  • Expect grease, body oils, animal waste, ink to come out of leather garments leather is extremely porous
